Traditional autumn market in Speicher

Every year on the first Thursday of October, the people of Speicher and their guests gather in our town for the traditional "Speicher Autumn Market." The market was first mentioned in a chronicle in the year 1856.

This means that with its long 160-year tradition, this market is counted among the oldest markets in the Eifel region.

While the main fair activities took place on the marketplace back then, a large livestock market was held simultaneously on the site of today's sports field. Over time, this livestock market lost importance due to changes in agriculture and rural areas in general, and was eventually discontinued altogether.

Today, the autumn market, organized by the town of Speicher, appears as a traditional fair.

And yet the "Speicher Autumn Market" remains an indispensable part of city life and still attracts many visitors to Speicher.
