Description
The Borkener Christmas Market traditionally takes place on the first Advent weekend in the central market square. Around 30 regional vendors and clubs showcase a diverse selection. This includes festive decorations, handcrafted wooden items, exquisite jewelry, and textiles. The offerings are complemented by a variety of culinary specialties and sweet treats that create a warm pre-Christmas atmosphere.
A varied stage program featuring local artists, choirs, and dance groups enriches the experience. Performances range from brass instruments to choral singing, significantly enhancing the festive mood.
The open-for-business Advent Sunday gives you the chance to explore the shopping options in the downtown area and the Gewerbegebiet Ost. This provides a perfect opportunity alongside the market visit to take care of Christmas shopping. Additionally, temporary winter villages in the city center—such as at the market square, Heilig-Geist-Straße, Kornmarkt, and Walienplatz—offer cozy areas to relax by creating consumption-free zones with seating.
