Vreden sings - a Christmas kickoff for the whole family!

When the first strings of lights shine, the city of Vreden invites you to a special Christmas kickoff for the whole family on the first Advent weekend. In a lovingly coordinated community effort, popular events are combined to create a unique Christmas experience.

Decorating the Horst

From the Saturday before the first Advent, it’s already time for the eleventh "Horst Decorating." Since 2014, Ideenfabrik Vreden has been hosting a joint Christmas tree decorating event on the city’s marketplace during the first Advent weekend. The featured tree – called the "Horst" – is a traditional highlight of the city’s Christmas decorations. From colorful baubles to sparkling stars and handmade ornaments, the "Horst" can be decorated to your heart’s content. A particularly popular part of the event is the rides in the cherry picker, which allow decorating the upper parts of the tree. Many children and adults get the chance to enjoy the beautiful view of the pre-Christmas city center.

Vreden sings!

Under the motto "Vreden sings!" the city marketing of Vreden invites you again to the festively decorated stage right in the middle of the marketplace. Here people make music, laugh, and sing together. Numerous choirs and hobby groups from Vreden musically set the mood for the Advent season. Whether classic Christmas songs, modern renditions, or atmospheric sounds – the musical performances warmly invite you to join in singing. For many, this event is a true highlight of the pre-Christmas season.

Open Sunday shopping

Those looking for special gifts can stroll leisurely through Vreden’s city center on the first Advent Sunday. Shops invite you to browse, marvel, and shop. The colorful stage program starts on Sunday with new musical surprises.

Christmas mail and children’s activities

For the little guests, there are more exciting offers. Among other things, they have the opportunity to write and send their Christmas mail to the Christ Child right on site. The St. Georg kindergarten sells handmade crafts, and the Spielvereinigung Vreden will also be on site to spread joy with their Christmas raffle tickets.

Diverse culinary offers

Good food and warm or cold drinks are well taken care of throughout the entire Christmas kickoff. Around the marketplace, clubs, restaurateurs, and Ideenfabrik provide a diverse culinary selection. Whether sweet or savory, hot or cold – there is something for every taste here.
