Dortmund Christmas City

Description
Dortmund Christmas City is one of the largest Christmas markets in Europe, featuring over 250 stalls across ten squares. There you’ll find handcrafted art, charming Christmas decorations, and unique toys.
Culinary delights range from hearty bratwurst and Westphalian ham to sweet almonds and crepes. Special seasonal drinks are also available, including mulled wine served in annually redesigned collectible mugs that are very popular with visitors.
For families, there’s a colorful program with crafting and baking activities, magic and puppet theaters, visits from Santa Claus, treasure hunts, and more. The highlight is the huge Christmas tree at Hansaplatz: 45 meters tall, decorated with around 138,000 LED lights – one of the largest in the world! From 5 PM, a captivating light show takes place every half hour.
Culturally, a diverse program appeals to all ages: concerts in churches, interactive workshops for children, storytelling, group singing, and traditional events under the great tree create a festive atmosphere.
A special experience is the Christmas City’s light art with ten artistic installations that depict Dortmund’s history from the Hanseatic era to modern technology. Figures made of powder-coated aluminum, plastic elements, and LED objects create impressive scenes.
Many stalls are clearly marked for vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free diets. Admission is free, so you can enjoy the variety and festive atmosphere at no cost.
Dortmund Christmas City runs every weekday and invites you to stroll, explore, and enjoy. A festive outing for the whole family! 🎄
