Description

The Monschau Christmas Market transforms the historic old town into a festive sea of lights. Over 60,000 LEDs illuminate the timber-framed houses, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a starry sky. The tempting scents of gingerbread, almonds, and mulled wine fill the narrow streets, inviting you to linger. Around 35 lovingly decorated wooden booths stretch from the marketplace along Austraße to the "Paterehöfje" and further across the Rur bridge to Gerberplatz in Stadtstraße. Since 2019, the market has been organized plastic-free; mulled wine and punch are served in specially designed "Monschau Christmas Market mugs."

A stroll reveals special highlights: the picturesque "Paterehöfje," the idyllic Eschbachstraße, the small winter market at the "Haus am Turm" on Stadtstraße, and the cozy Christmas gathering at Gerberplatz. Both in the market stalls and in the charming boutiques and artisan shops, you will find an exquisite selection of handicrafts, decorations, Christmas ornaments, as well as high-quality and unique gifts and culinary delights. On the second and third weekends of Advent, Aukloster opens its doors, where exhibitors in the cloister present handmade products ranging from socks and scarves to decorative pillows and baby clothes.

For convenient access, a park-and-ride system operates on all Christmas market days from Monschau-Imgenbroich and, additionally on Saturdays and Sundays, from Monschau-Höfen and the Haag school center. Please note that access to parking garages in the old town on market days is only possible until 10 a.m. and after 9 p.m. Residents of the old town, employees of local businesses, and guests with a written reservation confirmation from an accommodation or catering business may drive the shortest route to the nearest parking garage but not through the town and only as long as sufficient capacity is available.

The Monschau Christmas Market offers an unparalleled experience amid historic settings and festive mood.
