Mudflat Adventure for Kids: Pirate Pelle's Treasure Hunt

Together we explore the mudflats in a playful way, discovering lugworms, shore crabs, and periwinkles. We begin our treasure hunt for the North Sea pirate Pelle's loot from the dyke near the lighthouse. Using an old treasure map, we teach children all about tides, the difference between real shore crabs and those in crab sandwiches. We look for the fastest snail, visit the lugworm land, and explain the dangers that pirate Pelle might face in the mudflat. After about an hour, each child gets to take a part of the treasure home – an adventure across the entire mudflat!
