Description

130 years of the Weiler church choir invite you to a special concert

Sounds that stay with you.

Voices that carry.

And: a community that spans generations.

When music is more than just sound, when it touches, carries, and connects, a concert becomes a true experience. That’s exactly what the Catholic church choir "Cäcilia" Weiler invites you to: a spiritual jubilee concert under the motto "Praise Song" on Saturday, November 21, 2026, at 6:00 pm in the St. Maria Magdalena parish church.

For 130 years, the choir has been an integral part of the church and cultural life in Weiler. This anniversary is now being celebrated with a concert meant to express joy, gratitude, and hope, and to reach out to people.

The program spans an impressive arc through the history of sacred music. From simple, meditative Gregorian chants to modern spiritual compositions, it unfolds a variety of sounds that are both familiar and surprising. Sometimes calm and thoughtful, sometimes powerful and stirring, but always carried by the idea of praising God through music.

More than 60 singers aged 17 to 91 come together on stage for this project. This mix is what makes it special: generations meet here, united by the joy of singing and shared expression.

The choir is accompanied on the piano by Andreas Arneke from Mainz, who shapes the evening musically and impressively supports the choir’s sound.

A brass group from the Musikverein 1921 Weiler also adds additional musical highlights.

Admission is free, with a donation requested at the end.

Afterwards, all guests are invited to gather on the church forecourt to chat and enjoy a friendly atmosphere as the evening winds down.

The jubilee weekend concludes with a solemn festive mass for the Christ the King feast on Sunday, November 22, 2026, at 10:30 am, also held in St. Maria Magdalena and accompanied by the choir.

The concert offers a great opportunity to experience sacred choral music in its full range.

If you appreciate good choral music or are curious, this is the place for you!
