Watt for Kids I: What Do Migratory Birds Eat in the Mudflats?
No photos yet
Description
The mudflats are full of small creatures that many migratory birds love to eat. We want to search for these creatures in the mudflats near the beach. Sometimes you only find shells and other remains. Some animals and other finds are not so easy to spot in the sand. Join us in the search. What will you discover?
To collect and identify your finds, we will provide you with a tray and an illustrated identification sheet. This way you can start to find out what kinds of animals and plants live in the mudflats and on the beach. Afterwards, we will look at all the finds together and talk about what you found, what the remains belong to, and what migratory birds like to eat the most.
For children from 3 to 14 years old accompanied by at least one adult
Recommended clothing: wind- and weatherproof outerwear, possibly head covering, rubber boots or sturdy footwear
The approximately 600 m long route is only partially accessible and runs along the sandy beach.
