Winter Rides with the Vulkan-Express

Description
At a cozy 20 km/h, the train winds along narrow-gauge tracks through the volcanic landscape of the Brohltal valley. You have about an hour to watch the scenery roll by and enjoy it even more by stepping out onto the open platform at the end of the carriage. Tight curves, a tunnel, and the ride over the 120-meter-long Tönissteiner Viaduct make this train journey very special, while the volunteer train staff provide travelers with interesting facts and drinks.
At the final station of this trip (Oberzissen), the railway workers have prepared a scenic winter hike. The tour leads uphill along field and forest paths to a viewpoint shelter where a tasty Eifel snack is served. Well refreshed, you’ll return in the afternoon along a different route back to the station – always with views of the mighty Olbrück Castle.
At the end of the tour, the heated “Vulkan-Express” is ready for the return trip, reaching the starting point Brohl at 4:40 pm, of course with good connections to Cologne and Koblenz.
The fare includes the guided hike as well as the midday snack and costs €27.50 for adults; children ages 6 to 15 pay €14.00. Similar trips as spring rides are offered in March.
