Description

High above the Eifel river Kyll, the Kasselburg rises on an impressive massif of dolomite rock and basalt. This castle complex, dating back to the 12th century, is a distinctive landmark of the Gerolstein region. The well-preserved ruins attract not only medieval enthusiasts but also house the Adler- und Wolfspark Kasselburg. Here, birds of prey demonstrate impressive aerial acrobatics in flight shows, while Western Europe's largest semi-wild wolf pack lives on ten hectares of forest and rocky terrain. During the daily feeding, visitors get exciting insights into the animals' lives. The park also offers wild boars, sheep, and goats, which especially delight children. Year-round, changing events such as knights' tournaments and falconry days take place. A restaurant, a playground, and a petting zoo, as well as partially accessible paths, make the park particularly family-friendly. Dogs are not allowed in the park, but spacious parking areas are available at the entrance.
