In the heart of the Hohofen district in Ellefeld lies a special place with history – the site of the former outdoor pool, now a nature-friendly fire-fighting pond. Where water lovers, big and small, once spent their summer days, a lovingly redesigned area now invites you to relax, explore, and take a stroll.

A real highlight for nature enthusiasts is the nature trail along the Rote Göltzsch river. The path runs right past the site and offers beautiful sights in every season – whether on a spring walk, a summer outing, or an autumn hike. The grounds at the old pool are easy to walk and provide space for peaceful moments surrounded by nature. A small playground also offers fun for younger visitors.

Thanks to extensive renovation work, the former pool has been carefully redesigned: damaged concrete surfaces were repaired, the pool’s side walls were refaced with granite stones – matching the style of the reinforced Göltzsch riverbank in town. The inflow and overflow were also created using natural stones, and a new valve controls the water regulation.
