Altmarkhof Schäplitz

Brief description Schäplitz is a traditional farming village in the Altmark region and is part of the unified municipality Stadt Bismark (Altmark) in the Stendal district.

Description The Altmarkhof was purchased by the community in 1996. In earlier times, the property was an inn. With funding from the Leader projects, a village center was created together with the citizens for the citizens, featuring the Altmark Hall, barn, and a local heritage room. For a long time, the barn garden was a unique feature. A clay oven with a bakehouse was built in the years 2000, 2003, and 2004, which is still used today for events on the farm. For children’s groups or seniors, the farm is a place to get acquainted with old craft techniques or to enjoy coffee and cake in a cozy setting on open days. The barn can be booked for private events. A popular highlight is the perennial plant exchange held in spring. The contact person is the Dorferneuerungsverein Schäplitz e. V.

On an exhibition area of about 200 m², visitors gain insight into the work and way of life of past rural generations. On display are household items and laundry from great-grandmother’s time as well as an old classroom with school furniture. These exhibits evoke memories for older visitors and fascinate young guests.

By arrangement, project days for children and school groups under the motto “Life as it used to be” can be offered to a limited extent. For example, children can wash laundry on an old washboard.

For breaks in between, the playground and the open countryside of the rural area are ideal.

Also located there is a renovated barn that can be rented for private celebrations for a fee.

We look forward to your visit!
