Artothek & Bildersaal

Artothek & Bildersaal brings you over 2,000 artworks by Munich artists in graphics, painting, sculpture, photography, and video – available to borrow just like books from a library!

Besides lending, the combination of Artothek and Bildersaal regularly hosts changing exhibitions featuring works by local artists. There’s always something new to discover.

Especially interesting for families: Artothek supports the local art scene not only by purchasing artworks but also invites children and teenagers to holiday programs as well as special offerings for schools, preschools, and afterschool care. There are also regular events like openings, artist talks, and creative hands-on activities.

The offerings also include family-friendly formats such as Art(othek) & Breakfast, where art introductions are experienced together in a relaxed setting. Sometimes the Artothek even takes its lending program into Munich neighborhoods, offering exhibitions and activities for families there.
