Description

Panarbora, a nature adventure park opened in 2015 in Waldbröl on the edge of the Bergisches Land Nature Park, follows an experiential education approach. The park's name refers to the Latin and Greek words for tree and nature. It is operated by the German Youth Hostel Association Rhineland Regional Group.

An accessible treetop walkway 1,635 meters long leads through the tree crowns to a 40-meter-high observation tower with a platform at 34 meters. Six interactive learning and discovery stations along the path teach visitors about the human role in the forest, forest types, animal inhabitants, as well as forest management and the raw material wood.

Panarbora also offers an adventure playground, a play tunnel, a sensory trail with an herb garden, and a wetland biotope. Archery and scavenger hunts are additional activities. A forest path on the grounds features sensory stations with different ground surfaces, sound installations, and a fragrant herb garden.

A restaurant with 200 seats offers self-service meals, complemented by an outdoor terrace. Overnight accommodations include treehouses as well as double and family rooms in the guest house. An e-bike rental and charging stations complete the offerings.
