Description

The Bergbaumuseum Achthal vividly presents the history of regional ore mining from 1537 to 1925. Visitors discover valuable exhibits, striking illustrations and images, as well as modern media stations that bring mining to life.

The museum offers fascinating insights into the mining heritage of the pre-Alpine iron region. Expert tours of the “Eisenreich” Mining Museum in Achthal are led by Johann Enzinger and organized by the Catholic Educational Institute of the Berchtesgadener Land.

A new museum guide tells the story of ore mining, the technical development of smelting and iron processing, as well as the lives of the people who shaped this important industry – from birth to death.
