Description

The Borstei-Museum preserves vivid memories and connects the past, present, and future of the Borstei settlement. It reflects the people-centered architecture and social vision of Bernhard Borst and his wife Erna.

Founded in 2006 as Munich's smallest museum, it charms visitors with its loving care of the history around Borstei, including through Line Borst, Bernhard Borst’s daughter, who personally attended museum openings and organized celebrations.

A special treasure is the Borstei-Kasperl, an award-winning local treasure since 2018 that symbolizes Bernhard Borst’s commitment to children’s cultural joys despite a difficult childhood. In the past, free Kasperl puppet shows were also offered for children, as part of social festivals in the settlement.

The volunteer-run museum mostly opens by appointment, offering a personal and unique experience – ideal for families and groups wanting to discover the special stories of Borstei.
