Description

The Bremer Stadtmusikanten tell the story of four older animals who escape death and start anew as town musicians in Bremen. The story highlights friendship, courage, and perseverance.

The animals form a striking pyramid by standing on each other's backs, scaring off robbers with loud noise. This combination of cleverness and teamwork makes their new home possible.

The fairy tale symbolizes social hope for the underprivileged and shows how community and bravery can overcome hardships and create new beginnings.

The famous bronze statue by Gerhard Marcks, created in 1953 and located at Bremen’s town hall, is a popular landmark and symbol of the city. If you touch the front legs of the Stadtmusikanten statue, you can make a wish – a delightful, interactive attraction for families.

The scene with the stacked animals scaring off robbers is one of the most famous representations in art. Since the early 19th century, the fairy tale has been illustrated many times and excitingly adapted for both children and adults across various media.
