## Brief Description
The "black art" has a very long tradition in Gräfenhainichen. At the Buchdruckmuseum, everyone can learn about the history of printing in the city of Gräfenhainichen. The exhibition of various printing and binding machines is worth seeing.
## Description
With the construction of the provincial road Berlin-Wittenberg-Bitterfeld-Halle around 1820 and the opening of the railway line Wittenberg – Bitterfeld in 1859, the city of Gräfenhainichen gained a convenient location for transport. Whereas printing used to be done outside the city, this changed with the founding of the first printing house in 1874. The Buchdruckmuseum – moved from Oranienbaum Castle to Gräfenhainichen in 1992 – was founded and developed by the philosopher Jürgen Helbig. The occasion was the International Gutenberg Year 1968, a worldwide event, and the associated honor of Carl-Heinrich Schulze (1837-1905), the founder of the printing industry in Gräfenhainichen. At the Buchdruckmuseum, you can learn more about the history of printing in our city. The exhibition of various printing and binding machines is worth seeing. The museum is located in the rooms of the city library.
