Erinnerungsstätte Matthias Erzberger

The Erinnerungsstätte Matthias Erzberger presents Matthias Erzberger as a pioneer of German democracy. In eleven staged rooms, visitors experience his life and political work through original exhibits.

The museum, located in Erzberger’s birthplace, offers fascinating insights into his background as the son of a tailor and postal worker, bringing local history to life through contemporary press reports.

For school groups, there are educational materials such as a biographical puzzle that deepen understanding. Volunteers from the Münsinger History Association also offer guided tours of the Erinnerungsstätte, which can be booked through the city archive.

The exhibition makes clear that attacks on Erzberger were also attacks on democracy – highlighting the historical significance of his political struggle.
