Feuerwehrmuseum

Description
The Feuerwehrmuseum showcases the history of the volunteer fire department in Lüneburg from 1864 to today with over a thousand fascinating exhibits.
Here you can discover old hand and motor pumps from various fire departments in the Lüneburg district. Especially exciting is the section on 40 years of fire department history in the former East Germany in Amt Neuhaus, which returned to the Lüneburg district after reunification.
A highlight is a historic, still-operational emergency vehicle: a 1955 Magirus-Deutz TLF 15/53 with an open pump stand in the vehicle hall.
The collection has been growing since 1966 and now fills a 270 m² specially built exhibition space.
The museum is managed by dedicated volunteers, mostly retired firefighters, who offer guided tours for groups, school classes, or individual visitors by appointment.
Admission is free – perfect for exploring the history and technology of firefighting together with children. On special days like Open House or Night of Museums, there are additional exciting activities.
