Freibad Sonnenborn Illingen

Up to 60,000 visitors come each season to one of the most beautiful outdoor pools in the Saarland. State-of-the-art technology combined with a historic, extensively renovated changing building and a clear layout – all this makes Freibad Sonnenborn so appealing. Competitive swimmers find their home here just as much as sun lovers do. Aqua joggers mostly swim their laps in the morning, school children dive and play, teenagers love to show off flips from the starting blocks or the pool edge. And for toddlers and their parents, there is space in the baby pool, which is shaded by a large sun sail. The stainless steel pools hold about 1.5 million liters of bathing water, and the latest filtration technology ensures top water quality even during busy times.

There are special advantages for people with disabilities. The path from the changing area to the swimming pool is wheelchair accessible. Anyone presenting a disability ID card receives special discounts. If the degree of disability is 50 percent or more, there are further price reductions. Of course, a mobile pool lift is available for people with disabilities.

Our outdoor pool is a non-smoking facility. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas throughout the whole outdoor pool.
