The Gerbereimuseum takes you on a fascinating journey into a world full of history and craftsmanship 🎨👜. Over 250 years of leather tanning come alive here – from traditional bark tanning with oak bark to industrial chrome tanning with original machines and tools.

The rotating art exhibitions as well as readings and concerts make the museum a vibrant cultural meeting point with a historic atmosphere. The program includes exhibitions with a variety of color worlds, such as the works presented in 2026 by 18 artists from the Bünder KunstKarrees or Uta Schock’s drawings, paintings, sculptures, and puppets.

For families, there are exciting guided tours that bring you stories from six generations of a tanning family and make history come alive with vivid storytelling.

Anyone who enjoys storytelling can volunteer as a guide – no prior knowledge is needed. This way, history can be actively shared with others, flexibly according to your ideas.
