Description

Grüneburgpark is a 29-hectare park located in the Westend district of Frankfurt. The park's name comes from the manor called Grüne Burg in the 18th century, as well as from the Rothschild New Palace built on the same site in the 19th century at Grüne Burg. Neither building has survived. Grüneburgpark is the largest park within Frankfurt's Alleenring; outside this ring road, only Niddapark (168 ha) and Ostpark (32.16 ha) are larger in area within the city limits. Due to its mature trees, some dating back to the early 19th century, and its historic significance to Frankfurt, Grüneburgpark is protected as a historic garden and also designated as a landscape conservation area.
