Description
At the Heimatmuseum im Reichenbach-Haus, you experience rural life from the past in a very special way. The historic building from 1801 itself is a living museum that keeps the traditions of Grub am Forst alive.
The restored parlor is especially worth seeing, featuring original furnishings like the tiled stove and family portraits. In the new media room, interactive displays 🎥 await you with virtual tours, 3D objects, and fascinating stories about the Blaufabrik and the legendary figure Zwolb.
The historic kitchen displays original cooking equipment from the 19th century, including a fire pit and a roasting oven, while the former farmhouse stable explains small-scale animal husbandry. The weaver's room upstairs brings linen weaving to life: a handloom over 100 years old demonstrates every step from flax to finished fabric.
Original pottery, intricately decorated traditional aprons, and historical documents offer insight into everyday life of the past.
Changing exhibitions, currently about blue printing, showcase local crafts and history in Room 2.
A four-poster bed from 1823, a portable toilet, and a baby cradle from the 1930s illustrate domestic life across different eras.
The original preserved outhouse, in use until 1994, lets especially younger visitors experience the sanitary situation of earlier times 🚽.
In the accessible attic storage, you can discover traditional building techniques and agricultural products from the region.
