Description

The Heimatstube der Donauschwaben makes crafts and everyday history tangible for families.

Particularly exciting: the oldest bellfounding workshop, preserved in its original state (around 1385) – a craft room that prompts children to ask about medieval technology.

Historic living rooms (smoke kitchen, town parlor with Baroque and Biedermeier furniture) invite discovery of household objects.

New in 2024: a themed room about the Wertheimer family, which tells a personal family story.

  • Original workshops and a bakery room for sensory, everyday discoveries.
  • Rural section with original Innviertel tools.
  • Small collection of reverse-glass paintings (Sandl/Raimundsreut) – Sandl reverse-glass painting is UNESCO-protected 🎨
  • Painted skulls and specimens as well as folk art for older children to investigate 🔍
