Description

Heimatzentrum Senne features several historic buildings typical of the Senne region and invites you to exciting activities focused on traditional farming, historic crafts, and preserving the cultural heritage of East Westphalia-Senne.

The center is maintained by the Low German Circle, which for 50 years has promoted the Low German language along with the customs and crafts of the area. Visitors can purchase a brochure summarizing these diverse traditions – proceeds support local volunteer efforts.

Here you can experience lively demonstrations of historic crafts and taste old recipes, while traditional customs are brought to life for families and school groups. An engaging place for anyone wanting to explore culture and history hands-on.

Special events include exhibitions of historic clothing, seasonal traditions like the cabbage bundle activity, flower carpets for Corpus Christi, as well as participation in events such as the WDR hiking day and open house days. Coffee gatherings are also offered upon request for groups.

School classes benefit from the Heimatzentrum as part of their educational program, discovering history and customs in a vivid way. A great program for families and interested visitors. ☕🌸
