Description

The Hermann-Oberth-Raumfahrt-Museum showcases fascinating technology related to rockets, spacecraft, and space stations – from concepts and blueprints to models and original space artifacts.

Highlights include Oberth's cone-shaped nozzle, rockets ranging from the UFA project to the Space Shuttle, special space suits for spacewalks, an observation chamber for the International Space Station, and a model of Sputnik 1.

Especially exciting are the Kumulus and Cirrus rockets, developed in the early 1960s by the Hermann-Oberth-Gesellschaft and launched in the Wadden Sea near Cuxhaven. The space suit of German D1 astronaut Ernst Messerschmid is also on display.

Outside the museum stands a Swiss research rocket of the Zenit type used for high-altitude research. A space cinema offers various films about the adventure of space exploration.
