Description

The Stadtmuseum Abensberg invites you on an exciting journey through time to explore the diverse history of the town of Abensberg – perfect for families wanting to learn local history in a playful way.

The special exhibitions change regularly: Currently they are celebrating 100 years of the Heimatverein Abensberg and 20 years of the Herzogskasten Museum. Another exhibit focuses on the sounds of Bavarian meadows and the variety of farm animals and plants – an experience for all the senses and an ecological exploration.

Here you will find out who Count Babo was, why the town wall had 40 towers, and how Napoleon suffered a defeat just outside Abensberg. Even the father of Bavarian historiography is featured – the museum tells many exciting stories for both children and parents.

The story stretches from the Stone Age through the time of the Babonen and Aventinus to the magnificent nativity scenes by Sebastian Osterrieder, connecting the past with the vibrant present.
