Description

The Hochschwabmuseum is a popular cultural stop on the way to the mountains, the WWW trail, or the Alpengasthof "der Bodenbauer" and is considered a regional cultural gem.

Housed in the Bodenbauerkeusche, a historic farmhouse built around 1700 with remarkable architectural details, the museum features exciting exhibits about drinking water supply, alpine agriculture, regional history, and nature.

You can gain insights into life in the Hochschwab region here, with stories about well-known figures like the gunsmith Rosl, a symbol of historic life, as well as the "Hochschwab painter" Prof. Paul Kassecker, a famous alpine painter and ski instructor.

Multimedia displays and exhibits commemorate significant mountaineering achievements, including the 100th anniversary of the Baumgartnerweg and the 125th anniversary of the first ascent of Hochschwab's south face. The museum also vividly conveys the cultural significance and diversity of water.

A special highlight is the regional booklet "Rosls Tourenbuch," inspired by the gunsmith Rosl, which tells fascinating stories about the region and is available on site – perfect for families who want to learn more about alpine culture.
