Jean-Paul-Museum Joditz
Description
The Jean-Paul-Museum Joditz invites you to dive into the world of children and the life of the famous poet. It is located in the former parsonage garden where Jean Paul's father prepared Sunday sermons and children lay in the grass learning grammar – providing a vivid connection to his childhood.
The museum displays almost all first editions of Jean Paul and many of his contemporaries and houses a hand library with over 700 titles and more than 1000 volumes, offering literary treasures.
The focus is on the poet's formative years: his childhood in the lower house and stable, and his adulthood with his quirks and love for beer on the upper floor. Jean Paul considered Joditz his "spiritual birthplace". He spent eleven formative years here from age two to thirteen, which he described as the happiest time of his life, despite modest circumstances.
The offerings are especially aimed at children from 2 to 13 years old who want to explore the world of Jean Paul together with their family.
