Description

The Karlsgrabenausstellung showcases the Karlsgraben “Fossa Carolina,” one of the largest technical cultural monuments of the Early Middle Ages and one of the 100 most beautiful geotopes in Bavaria.

This impressive early medieval engineering project, initiated by Charlemagne, aimed to connect the Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers via a waterway. Even today, you can explore a 500-meter-long water section and nearby earth mounds that reveal the scale of this historic canal.

The site offers an exciting way to discover medieval technology and geological history together with children – perfect for an educational outing in the fresh air.
