Lachner-Museum
Description
The Lachner-Museum is located in the former city organist's house – the birthplace of the six musical Lachner siblings. It offers you an authentic insight into the romantic musical culture of this family.
The focus is on the musical legacy of the Lachners, especially Franz Lachner, who was royal music director at the Bavarian court in Munich for 32 years. The brothers represent the romantic musical tradition as conservative, classical figures.
Particularly fascinating is their father's extraordinary music teaching method: He painted piano keys on a wooden bench so the children could practice quietly together using slate boards – allowing them to learn from each other without disturbance.
On weekends, the children were also allowed to play the organ in the church, giving them an authentic musician's experience and shaping their musical development.
