Description

Lava-Dome is a geological museum that makes the volcanism of the Laacher See region exciting and tangible – for visitors of all ages. 🌋

A multimedia presentation vividly tells the story of two major volcanic eruptions with images, sounds, and projections that create an impressive atmosphere.

In the volcano workshop, young and old explorers can investigate for themselves at ten experiment stations how volcanoes erupt and what happens beneath the earth's surface.

  • The exhibition “Time of the Volcanoes” features, among other things, “talking stones” that share stories of four major eruptions when touched.

  • Seismological data, webcams, and a circular cinema with a fictional news channel about a new eruption provide special insights.

  • Outside, the Lava cellar offers a fascinating 3.5 square kilometer lava cave world – accessible only on guided tours.

  • The Museum Lay demonstrates traditional natural stone carving – perfect for anyone wanting to learn more about the regional nature and history.
