LVR-Industriemuseum St. Antony-Hütte

Description
LVR-Industriemuseum St. Antony-Hütte is the birthplace of the iron and steel industry in the Ruhr area, where pig iron first flowed from a blast furnace in 1758. The museum brings history to life with the historic director’s residence, the industrial archaeology park featuring uncovered production facilities, and the idyllic St. Antony Park.
The permanent exhibition "The Cradle of the Ruhr Industry" tells the fascinating story of the region. Families can especially look forward to the Full Steam Ahead with the Steelworks Director festival on October 11, a steamy program for young and old. The "Discover St. Antony" guided tours also offer fascinating insights into the oldest ironworks until early December.
In autumn, the "Night Nature – Who Owns the Night?" event on October 29 offers a special night walk for families. On October 30, the Autumn Salon Evening with the Steelworks Director humorously transports you to life around 1800, with readings and music.
Children and youth up to 18 years old have free admission, making the visit especially family-friendly. Additionally, admission is free every first Friday of the month (except during special events). The Eisenheim Museum, a branch of St. Antony-Hütte, presents the history of the oldest workers’ settlement in the Ruhr region and offers insights into life beyond heavy industrial work.
