LWL-Museum für Naturkunde | Außenstelle Heiliges Meer

Description
The LWL-Museum für Naturkunde | Außenstelle Heiliges Meer is an educational and research center with over 60 years of history, located right on the edge of the Heiliges Meer nature reserve. Here you will find an exciting exhibition and diverse natural habitats that invite you to experience nature directly.
Heiliges Meer is the largest natural still water body in North Rhine-Westphalia and a remarkably large sinkhole lake – a rare geological phenomenon that is especially interesting and educational for children and families. Family-friendly hiking trails lead around the area past lakes, ponds, forests, heathlands, and wetlands.
Near the education center there is a shelter, ideal for a break or a picnic. Admission to the exhibition building is free, making the trip especially appealing for families.
The center offers a varied course program throughout the year for nature lovers, pupils, and students – with practical activities focused on biodiversity and nature conservation. This makes the visit an exciting journey of discovery for the whole family.
For multi-day nature experiences, overnight accommodations for up to 32 people are available, mostly in twin rooms – perfect for families wanting to immerse themselves more deeply in nature.
