LWL-Museum Textilwerk

Description
LWL-Museum Textilwerk invites you to experience textile industrial history up close. In two historic buildings – a spinning mill and a weaving mill – you can touch and explore various textile materials like wool and linen at several stations.
The weaving hall is lively every day: numerous machines operate here, producing real textiles such as towels and tablecloths. The authentic experience of a working weaving mill is intensified by the sound of the machines – hearing protection is available.
A special highlight is the historic steam engine, which powered the entire mill and is demonstrated and explained by staff. You’ll also learn how factory workers lived in workers’ houses with their own gardens, where they grew vegetables and kept animals.
There are regularly changing special exhibitions on textile and industrial themes. For children, there is a special program with themed Saturdays like “Super Saturday,” featuring creative activities and exciting discoveries.
This experience is suitable for the whole family – from the youngest children to teenagers and adults.
