Metznerpark

Description
In the 18th century, Frankenthal developed under Elector Carl Theodor into one of the most important towns of the Electoral Palatinate. Privileges and subsidies promoted industry, and the expansion of new transport routes supported trade. Frankenthal became known as the "Factory Town."
Alongside the porcelain manufactory of the Strasbourg manufacturer Hannong, cloth making was an important economic sector. On the site of today's Metznerpark, the "Electoral Wool and Cloth Manufactory Speyerer & Co." was established in 1761. In the small park, a section of wall from the former wool manufactory, complete with an archway and window, has been preserved. A nearby information board displays the historical elevation drawing of the factory. This now-nonexistent building later housed the foundry of Andreas Hamm.
Today, the small park offers, in addition to the historic wall section, a playground for children aged 0 to 12. Various play equipment invites climbing, swinging, and balancing, making the park a pleasant place for families to spend time.
