Mühleninformationszentrum (MIZ)

The Mühleninformationszentrum (MIZ) showcases a fascinating landscape of 42 restored wind, water, and horse mills – including Germany’s only fully operational ship mill. From March to October, special mill days offer exciting insights into traditional milling and baking processes, accompanied by Westphalian hospitality that is especially enjoyable for families.

You’ll find plenty of ways to explore: bike tours along the 320 km long Westphalian Mill Road, which connects all the mills, or hikes on the Mühlensteig trail featuring charming mill scenery, picturesque villages, artisan studios, and farm cafes.

Special highlights include diverse events such as autumn markets with mill demonstrations, entertaining children’s programs, live music, and a variety of culinary treats. The season closes with the family-friendly Sausage Day – where the mills run every hour, children’s activities take place, and colorful market stalls invite you to linger. 🌾
