Munster: Flüggenhofsee

The former diatomaceous earth pond is a beautiful place to relax at any time of year. Munster: Flüggenhofsee is 950 m long and between 100 m and 300 m wide. The deepest spots reach 14 m.

With its large beach, fantastic pirate-themed playground, and a big barbecue area, it offers guests, locals, and visitors an easily accessible destination with plenty of parking. Whether you want to sunbathe, enjoy an afternoon of play, or just unwind – Flüggenhofsee is a day-trip spot for the whole family. You can even occasionally spot windsurfers there. The beach regularly turns into a party zone, for example when the DLRG and the Poultry Breeders Association hold their summer festivals.

There is no lifeguard supervision at Flüggenhofsee!

Dogs are also warmly welcome at the designated dog beach at Flüggenhofsee! This way, your four-legged friends can cool off on hot summer days too.

For anglers, there’s plenty to offer as well. Flüggenhofsee is home to these fish species: eel, perch, pike, carp, tench, lake trout, whitefish, catfish, and zander. Guest fishing permits can be obtained with a valid fishing license from Munster Touristik.

The Poultry Breeders Association maintains a well-kept and publicly accessible facility on the south side of the lake. There, year-round, chickens, ducks, and a variety of beautiful birds in large aviaries can be admired for free. A small playground for children completes the offer.

And when the lake freezes over in winter, it’s a great place for ice skating!
