Museum Inselmühle

Description
Museum Inselmühle is the house of Harener history and offers you an impressive journey into the city's past.
A permanent exhibition presents the unique post-war history of Haren as the Polish enclave Maczków from 1945 to 1948. You will find many documents, newspapers, and personal records that bring the lives of the Polish displaced persons and the city of Maczków to life.
The city archive preserves historical documents dating back to the 18th century, including photos, film footage, school chronicles, and local records of great importance. Personal archives such as files from the former mayor during the evacuation years and citizen registers up until around the 1960s offer fascinating insights.
Digital collections and a specialized library on regional history also invite you to dive deeper into research.
Admission is free and the exhibition is fully accessible.
