NABU-Infohütte Wester-Spätinge

Right on the dike of the Eiderstedt peninsula lies the 27-hectare Wester-Spätinge nature reserve, protected since 1978. Here you’ll find a brackish wetland with marshes and water areas, as well as salt-loving plant communities. The area serves as a breeding, resting, and feeding ground for many bird species – including spoonbills, bluethroats, and many others. Invertebrates also find an important habitat here. From the sea dike, you can observe the diversity of nature, as entering the reserve is not allowed to protect the delicate landscape.
