Naturfreibad Schalkenmehrener Maar offers the perfect setting for relaxed and refreshing hours. For the youngest visitors, there is a baby pool with sun protection, while a fenced toddler pool with a maximum water depth of about 100 cm guarantees safe swimming fun. A diving board and a water slide, in operation since 2016, provide additional entertainment. The spacious sunbathing lawn offers plenty of loungers and ample shade to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the maar. A modern restroom building with changing rooms and showers is also available. The kiosk serves visitors with a wide variety of food, ice cream, and drinks on the inviting terrace. The use of watercraft such as stand-up paddleboards is prohibited by order of the Lower Nature Conservation Authority of the Vulkaneifel district, except for pedal boats and rowboats owned by the municipality.
