Description

In the Nikolaiturm of the Görlitzer Sammlungen für Geschichte und Kultur, fascinating exhibitions await you that will delight art lovers of all ages. The exhibition „HANS-PETER MENGE“ in the Graphic Cabinet features 15 selected works from around 40 drawings and prints donated by the local artist Hans-Peter Menge. Here you experience six decades of artistic development, from figurative to abstract art.

The special exhibition „TRAUMZEIT. Zeichenkunst der Romantik“ presents over 140 works by more than 50 artists such as Adrian Ludwig Richter, Philipp Otto Runge, and Carl Spitzweg. With magnifying glasses, you can explore the fine details of romantic art worlds and dive into past times.

The exhibition „KLENGEL & KLASS. Zeichenkunst um 1800“ shows lively sketches of people and animals. The focus here is on the artists Johann Christian Klengel and Friedrich Christian Klass – important representatives of Romantic landscape painting who also inspired Caspar David Friedrich.

A special opportunity is offered by the exhibition „Bô Yin Râ – das geistige Lehrwerk“, which for the first time in Görlitz shows the complete spiritual works of Joseph Anton Schneiderfranken. Twelve volumes were created during his seven-year stay in the city and can be discovered here.
