Opel-Zoo

Over 1,600 animals from more than 220 species live in spacious enclosures across a total area of 27 hectares, including African elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, cheetahs, striped hyenas, meerkats, red pandas, spectacled penguins, and many more. At the petting zoo with a breeding house or during pony and camel rides, children get to experience their favorite animals up close.

In addition to animal watching, the large adventure playgrounds with a climbing forest, slides, and many other play equipment, along with the educational trails – some featuring interactive stations – make a day at Opel-Zoo an unforgettable experience.

School classes, preschools, birthday children and their guests, holiday playgroups, and other groups (including adults) are supervised by the zoo educators: whether it’s scavenger hunts, guided tours, or special programs during the quieter winter season – learning in nature outdoors or in the zoo school with its fascinating exhibits and modern media setups inspires both young and older children.

Food and drink are also taken care of: either snacks, ice cream, and beverages available at various kiosks or at the Sambesi restaurant with its large sun terraces offering spectacular views over the elephant enclosure.
