Description

Wiesbaden is known as the Nice of the North — and indeed, there is a place that instantly transports visitors to the coastal towns of the Côte d’Azur: Schiersteiner Hafen. Where factories once made soap and fishermen moored large ships, today the waterfront promenade winds along with bars and boat houses, restaurants, and ice cream parlors. Yachts and small boats are anchored, sailors and windsurfers cruise the harbor basin. It's no surprise that in Wiesbaden people now speak not only of Schiersteiner Hafen but of the “Riviera.”

Here’s a tip for a especially relaxed arrival or onward journey: the small harbor ferry Tamara connects Schierstein with the boat dock in Biebrich and the island Rettbergsaue across the water. The dock is located directly opposite the Venezia ice cream café on Hafenstraße.
