Description

Schloss Unteraufseß is one of the oldest castles in Upper Franconia, dating back to the 11th century. It offers you and your children an exciting journey back to the Middle Ages with lots of history and impressive architecture.

The medieval bergfried, a tall tower on a rock, is the oldest preserved part of the castle. Families can explore the fascinating defensive structures here and discover how castles were protected back then.

Inside you’ll find a romantically designed family chapel with coats of arms from various noble families – a real experience for anyone interested in history and heraldry.

The castle grounds include several historic buildings, including a three-story main building with corner towers and a castle courtyard tower. Together they create an authentic medieval atmosphere for discovering and exploring.

The castle has survived many significant events in European history, such as the Hussite wars, peasant wars, and the Thirty Years’ War. This provides plenty of stories for exciting family outings full of history.
