Description

The Töpfermuseum Thurnau showcases the centuries-old local pottery tradition and is a cultural and economic highlight of the region. Here you can experience the traditional pottery process up close – from clay extraction through shaping, decorating, to firing.

On display are typical Thurnau household ceramics, individually handcrafted pieces, miniature pottery, and the special play figures called "Mopper," which especially fascinate children. A truly unique experience is the "Black Kitchen," discovered during renovation work, offering insight into historical everyday life.

The museum also offers tours and private courses, which can be arranged outside of regular opening hours upon request.
