Description

The butterfly garden "Eifalia" in Blankenheim offers a fascinating nature experience. In the butterfly house, visitors can watch colorful butterflies sipping juice from cut fruits with their delicate proboscises before fluttering away into the foliage. Particularly impressive are the blue morpho butterflies, which glide through the air with gentle wing beats. The facility is home to around 20 butterfly species, including Blue Morphos from Costa Rica, Asian Papilio, and Canary Islands Monarchs. The collection is expected to grow to up to 500 butterflies and over 30 species from various continents. At the center of the garden, a waterfall cascades from a three-meter-high stone structure into a winding stream. The botanical garden outdoors offers special events from May to October, such as art competitions and exhibitions. The butterfly garden is accessible to all, featuring plenty of seating inside the tropical house. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor area but not inside the tropical house.
