Schul- und Spielzeugmuseum Obersulm
Description
The Schul- und Spielzeugmuseum Obersulm is the largest of its kind in Baden-Württemberg, spread across five buildings. Here you can discover the fascinating history of school, play, vocational training, and crafts.
In the school museum, you'll find a historic classroom with furniture and teaching materials from 1850 to 1930, an old teacher’s apartment, a historic shop, and exhibitions on various everyday school topics such as hygiene, physical education, school meals, women in teaching, and laundry care.
The toy museum presents the pedagogy of play on three floors. There you will find toys from the 19th and 20th centuries – including shops, dollhouses, cradles, farms, and stables.
In the "Craftsmen’s Farmhouse" or "Blue House," everything revolves around crafts, vocational school, baptism, godparenthood, and confirmation. There is also a barn, a tea kitchen, and group rooms to explore.
In the Green House, original journeyman certificates from three centuries are displayed – along with typical craft tools. Another section on the theme "Symbols of Life" is also being developed there.
Especially attractive for families with school-aged children and teenagers: virtual tours and a digital scavenger hunt are available through an app, offering a playful way to learn.
