Description

The Schwarzwälder Trachtenmuseum takes you into the fascinating world of traditional folk costumes from the Black Forest and surrounding areas. Here you can admire over 100 life-sized costume figures showcasing both festive and everyday wear – an exciting experience for the whole family.

Especially impressive are the famous Black Forest headpieces like the red Bollenhut and the elaborate bridal crowns (“Schäppel”), which are genuine cultural symbols and always amaze children.

The museum is located in the historic Capuchin Monastery in Haslach, an old monastery dating back to the Thirty Years’ War – an intriguing setting that brings the exhibition to life.

Here you experience Black Forest cultural history up close and learn how traditions are still kept alive today by local costume clubs at festivals.
